My guess is that the Goodman version came out on top Fergus??

Disc 1: Concertos 1, 2 & 3.
Very enjoyable but not quite what I expected. I found the bass in the Concerto No.1 to be a little heavy and dominant at times although I wasn't listening with my fullest attention at the time. I need to come back to it again with perhaps a comparison with the Gardiner, OAE and Hogwood versions.
The highlight of the above disc is without doubt Concerto No.3.

I actually enjoyed both Dave....but Goodman would definitely edge it as the touch and feel is so much lighter.

Symphony No.4
Some tape hiss on this recording that normally wouldnt bother me so much but the performance here fell a bit short of my expectations considering what I've heard from this boxset already. Not one of my favorite 4ths.

Brahms: Symphony No. 4 [Solti]....
I must say that I have enjoyed this set....I like the way Solti attacks the music and adds a bit of bite to it.
