Oh well that explains it. I remain unexcited by 5.14! :-(jrling wrote: Clive - it is an AVX2 version of 5.14 which only runs on Haswells not Ivy Bridge (which is what I also have).

Clive - if you ever went to a shrink about your inability to let go of 5.14 SSE2 (which you are never going to get), they would be using termslike "Closure" "Move On" "Look to the Future" - and they would be correct!Clive wrote:Oh well that explains it. I do trust you Jonathan....I realise KS is the way forward and I have say I'm very pleased with it. I was only wanting to place my KS comments in context in case it helped in some way. My big problem is that I'm spending so much time playing with MQn that I'm ignoring my two record decks. Now which obsession do I need that shrink for...jrling wrote:Clive - if you ever went to a shrink about your inability to let go of 5.14 SSE2 (which you are never going to get), they would be using termslike "Closure" "Move On" "Look to the Future" - and they would be correct!Clive wrote:Oh well that explains it. The KS adventure is way, way more interesting & exciting. Trust me.

Yep, one of my decks is a 301 too!jrling wrote:I have a Garrard 301/SME3009 sitting idle giving very second best to MQn. Shame but true.
Same thing here, run 5.14avx2 on Ivy with control 2.97 (sometimes 512 (not 512 3.61)) with no problem.Clive wrote:Oh well that explains it. I remain unexcited by 5.14! :-(jrling wrote: Clive - it is an AVX2 version of 5.14 which only runs on Haswells not Ivy Bridge (which is what I also have).
They might have "similar" code, but not even close sound!!!jesuscheung wrote:i take 7.18 and imagine what 5.14 sounds likeClive wrote:Unfortunately the 5.14 comparisons are a bit esoteric as not many can run it.
i can imagine the sound of wasapi bass + timing injected into 7.18.
7.18(or 5.14) is great for casual listening. musical content is limited really.
