With the latest PA v43 and v44 (normal & avx2) I get steady noise!

Comparing 7.35avx2/PA 38avx2/control 3.64 with 5.14avx2/control 2.97, I still prefer the old 5.14 version.
So far KS is still "to soft" for my taste!
5.14 has a better highs and details and better(cleaner) bass!

v43, 44 has noise here too.

---
in my setup, portaudio gives the best sound from living organism. e.g. people, birds.
has life.
wasapi has never sounded like that.

musical notes sounds soft probably only because ks doesn't have enough bass.
sbgk will work it out

---
(am back to liking 7.18 + v38)
7.18 > 7.16
7.18 > 7.35

think its timing and/or resolution not really bass quantity
like piano needs to be sharp, hard and tight
everything should come together if its fixed
im not knocking ks, hopefully will get better control

too many instructions removed

talk on other forums about intel fanless nuc using broadwell chips, interesting, though the fan on my haswell hardly ever comes on.

there's a whole layer of buffering in portaudio that can come out, so that should help.

Just to confirm:
Portaudio v43 and v44 crackling noise on booth channels; seems to appear with certain frequencies only.

Tested on Server 2012 R2 with AudioPhil's Optimizer
Mqncontrol 3.64, mqnplay 1644 7.35 sse2

Still have fun listening through my files archive with pa 38
;)

seems to happen when the music has a lot of bass, does playing bassy music mean more data is being transferred ?

wonder if people have preconceptions about 7.18 because I said it was like 5.14, think there were a few differences not least the compiler. Shall need to make the versions more anonymous.

Funny question: 44.1 kHz seems to be pretty constant
