to me it's the most incredible sound I've heard.

How do you know your recording has sharp bass notes and clear piano, maybe that was an artifact of wasapi.

Think JK posted an article about lack of noise leading to less dynamic smoother sound.

Anyway there is still a bit of code to remove, if I can work it out.

How do you know your smoother sound is not a lack of resolution and detail?
Smeared sound can never be the objective of a recording?

You may want to get a "digital-vinyl" (double DSD) version of an album to listen first, then compare red-book played by MQn to it, so that may help on judging of "rightness" of sound.
I was blown away last night listening this (not just me, my friend too, who used to think that LP12 is miles away from digital)...thanks Ken for heads-up!

Jeez this is turning into PFM

I'm certain there's still better aspects in wasapi atm
Definitely not artifacts it's plain as day here
Otherwise I wouldn't have mentioned it
No point getting frustrated with each other
We're hardly out of road for ks yet

Dunno if setting dsd as a target is a good idea either
Though it is very good

I have no doubt any more about DSD, we like it or not, especially DDSD.
BTW, it would nice to have more control on what we put in writing here, some stuff is out of context.

5.14 only just happens to sound good on particular settings.

2.71 is the one.
my OS went through 1000 changes ending with 100 changes.
i went from CPU=1.6Ghz to 4Ghz to 4.8Ghz to 4Ghz.
changed my ram timing 10 times.
i went from win8 to 2012 to R2 to "win8.1 with update" to 2012

2.71 survives all the way.

in fact, i remember everyone did like 2.71 because of its musicality. even for those users on win7.

after tweaking, 2.71 only gonna get more more details.

i bet if and when win9 comes out, 2.71 will survive.
am not sure about 5.14

now that's a reference version.

Hi All

I have PA 38 and mqnplay v 7.35 sse loaded at the moment and it’s astoundingly good to my ears.

More meat on the bones in the lower mid and bass.

I have Xmos drivers and like Jling I’m having the first few seconds at the start of playback cut off. It’s no big deal as the rest sounds so very good but I’ve had this before with other players that I’ve tried.

In my experience it has something to do with:

1) The latency setting on the Xmos drivers (I’ll have a play with that later)(what settings do you have for that Jonathan?)I have my settings @ lowest latency ATM.
2) The buffer size.(can only be set for KS in the programme).

Is it possible to have a feature for adjusting the buffer size? I may be wrong so feel free to correct if necessary.

Just a thought.

Great work guys

Great work Gordon.

I like the lowest latency and buffer settings for the xmos chip
Usually sounds a bit thinner but also more detailed and delicate
