Ok up and running using 7.10sse2 16/44 and 24/96. Just to confirm that this is correct have portaudio_x64.dll in the MQN folder (Version V27), Both Mqnplay1644.exe and 2496.exe for 7.10 wdmks sse2, mqncontrol.exe ( 3.64) and the mqnparam unchanged as amanero dacs must all use 4. The usual param and past files, tasker and the mqn and mqn-aff files and 448-clockrate files by 2 set up by Aleg. How does one check that the music is playing using KS?
On the sound initial listening seems very warm, big soundstage and nice detail. Need to spend more time but it sounds very promising. No lack of detail as far as I can tell.

Very good start for KS. Lots to like, especially high end micro detail and the stage seemed further back and wide. Bass though has lost that 6.17 magic.
Am confused whether I should be running MMCSS or not. I tried disabling it but Windows Audio is dependant on it running so that was a no go. Advice please Gordon.
need to edit the registry to remove the dependency audio has on mmcss

uploaded 7.11 and 7.12 mqnplay
7.12 uses a new method of copying, think it sounds better.
tested ks and wasapi and am getting more detail with ks.

uploaded 7.13 avx2 and 7.14 avx2, think 7.14 sounds pretty good.

quickly tried this combo
7.12sse
mqncontrol3.64
portaudio_x64.dll v27 normal
sounds ok. treble has much more ease than wasapi
bass is lacking.
----
now testing 7.10 sse...
bass is back...
hard treble when compared to 7.12 sse
sound is mellow... not sharp
reminds me of 3.39, has rich smooth sound also lacks quality texture

Thanks.
Just to be clear, are you recommending Disabling MMCSS with KS?
Are you therefore setting MQn WDM-KS to have a high priority in the code?
Does this mean that ProAudio settings used to great advantage with WASAPI are no longer applicable or beneficial?
I am using taggart's Tasker.bat to set MQnPlay to have 'High' Priority at runtime in MQnLoad.exe, as are many others I guess.
Sorry for so many questions, but I am confused (not for the first time).

tested disabling MMCSS... with 7.10
1. DependOnService = AudioEndpointBuilder RpcSs
2. manually stopped MMCSS
sound is sharper faster, tries harder
but don't think micro is stable... not relax. tense treble
think portaudio dll needs to get better to replace MMCSS

Dear all,
this is my first post here. I am watching MQN progress for a while and have learnt that it is now possible to use KS instead of WASAPI.
I usually listen to a 2 PC system with Jplay in AO core mode.
On my Audio PC I am using Win server 2012 with ASUS Z77 and I7 processor.
I was able to run MQN in mingui (with wasapi) a while ago, but fail now to run KS versions (in core mode).
Please correct me if I do something wrong. I have a MQN folder with includes mqn.bat, renamed mqncontrol, renamed mqnplay, mqnparameter.txt and portaudio_X64.dll. I modified mqnparameter.txt to match with my USB/SPDIF converter
I am sure that I have used SSE versions and latest portaudio.
Then I copy a wav file in totalcmd and start mqn.bat (which I did on WASAPI as well). However I do not get any sound.
Can you give me a hint what I have to check?
Thank you in advance!
Elvis

i think (not exactly sure) portaudio requires Windows Audio service. (because mqn didn't seem to make sound without it)
does your core mode has windows Audio service?
