Thanks for the link Modest

Im unsure what to do Dac wise at the moment.

Im actually thinking of trying a bit of DIY and may modify a Teac VRDS10 and see what can be squeezed out of it.

Thought I'd post a few pics from the show. We must have missed you Modest - we arrived a bit later, I'd say it was 2ish or so. Highlights for me were the DCS/focal/VTL room. But that was a system that must have gone past the 100K mark. The Puresound room with triangle speakers I thought was another one where the sound was good. Also, the Lyric hifi room where there was the Rega Isis CDP and amp and Kef reference speakers sounded good, but there was something a bit wrong with the sound. However, just on a hunch I felt that a little bit fo tweaking with positioning etc, (big glass wall right behind the speakers) this was worth a second look.

I saw the puresound amps and started talking to the sales rep. I asked him was Puresound the company started up by Guy Sargeant... so turns out it was, and Guy was there. This is the fella that started up audio innovations waaaay back. Anyway ages ago I put up a question about my old audio innovations amp on pinkfishmedia. Guy himself came back to me, emailed me the original schematics, told me that mine was a very early version - the one which he preferred too. An absolute gent - it was great to meet him at the show. I wouldn't hesitate to buy from him....

A thing that surprised me was that there was a fair bit of stuff on show that I had never heard of. Big shiny amps, some turntables etc etc that I never heard of, but looked great. Few enough were playing so it was hard to tell what the SQ was like. Thats always going to be the way though. Fair play to Naim, they were one of the few to have the insides of the amps on show....

Great pics Fran

Those big ATC's are the scm50 Anniversary edition. Lovely.

Anybody know what the big silver(blue lights) component on the floor is in the pics on page 3 of the thread? Looks like a cd player with the drawer on top. Looks expensive.

Yeah thats it - although I would say that that room in particular sounded very bass shy. They had a large amount and variety of equipment though. Worth keeping an eye on.

One of the other lads there said they were German, and that the sound from that room (audionote) was excellent. The door was locked as I passed by so didn't get to go in there.
