Well done Tony, an ardous trip alright but you will look back on it later with a big smile I expect.
When we get to hear the 57's we will make sure we discuss within earshot of your better half of how thrifty you have been buying 60 year old technology at one tenth of the price you would pay for modern speakers to match them in listening pleasure.
Might turn you in to a heroic figure.....maybe not!!

There is a tacit obligation on all members to do this whenever the opportunity arises. Where an opportunity doesn't arise seek it out.

Ivor I was reasonably normal (according to my mammy) until I made the mistake of replying to your ad on the old forum about cables. You kindly gave me all them to try which I thought was very strange since we had never met. When I decided to take a pair you invited me in for a quick listen when I was returning the other cables. I should have given you the two fingers then and gone blissfully ignorant back home. Big mistake got to see your wardrobe sized speakers and strange amp with glass prongs sticking up. That started the slippery slope.
Moved on did a few solid stage upgrades and got nice speakers but you intervened again offering a new product for sale. Vino!. You advised that this wine was very nice and wouldn't cause any problems like the cables. Well the wine was nice but once I started drinking lots of it mad ideas would keep coming into the head. So there whenever I get attacked at home I always refer to the man in rathmines/ranelagh and advise he is to blame nothing to do with me.
Pearse, You must be drinking Ivors wine also. We all know wife life does not go like that. All is very calm here at the moment but when the 57's come out of the box I expect all hell will break loose.

You have got to convert her to the wine Tony and the rest will follow.......
How do you think I managed to get my set of 63's in to a tiny living room with 24 valves burning every time I power up, good wine works wonders in completing the transformation.....I do have a big TV in the bedroom so she can escape there when it all becomes too much.
I am sure there will be lots of hard earned advice here for you in how to avoid getting thrown out on to thr street!!

Feel free to blame me for anything Tony (within reason) but in future I'll check before visiting you to see if I need an anti-stab vest.

Yes Ken the looney hifi boat been on that trip for awhile now. Don't worry Pearse I am plying her with lots of wine and trying to drink some myself to pluck up the courage to take them Quads out of the safety of their cardboard boxes.
Don't worry Ivor the wine and supply of good olive oil will keep you safe, don't know about me though.

Ah, you're making me nostalgic here - I remember sneaking my own quads in and hiding them in the spare bedroom until "the right moment" came along. Look what happened to me since!
That's a fantastic setup you have now, a real collection of objects of desire! I wish you many hours of enjoyment!

Congrats on all the new gear Tony! Tis a great feeling getting new gadgets in the door alright. So that's ESL57s and the Jadis as your main system now? What CDP/TT are you using?
