With all due respect for Andrew Manze, Enrico Onofri takes these sonatas to a different level.

Enrico Onofri is the concertmaster of Il Giardino Armonico, and may be the finest baroque violinist today, well, after Fabio Biondi of course. His sound is gorgeous, and his flair and imagination, outstanding.
This is also a quite extraordinary recording. Tartini´s Il Trillo del Diavolo is thrilling!
Volume 2 of the Corelli sonatas has been recorded and should be released soon.

With this volume all the works of the great Dietrich Buxtehude are now recorded. A huge an extremely important undertaking by Ton Koopman. This last volume of the cantatas is just exquisite, gorgeously performed.

Recorded in 1954, Reiner´s Heldenleben is the first high quality stereo recording ever. A tribute to RCA, it still sounds great after almost 60 years!!!!

Ah, this is great music and it is beautifully played by Pollini and the CSO under Abbado's direction, who needs central heating on a cold, damp day when one has performances like this to get the blood pumping through one's veins? Highly recommended.

Indeed it is Pepe; the recording quality and performance is so much better than John Barbirolli's later recording with the LSO too, or perhaps it's just me? I felt it dragged, is turgid and gloopy. Perhaps I should give it another chance?
