Karl wrote:5.31 and 5.32: the treble is a little bit distorted by listening the several clocks from "Time" (Pink Floyd)

5.27 seems to be a winner.
Not noticing any treble distortion listening to cymbals on several jazz tracks.

?????

uploaded 5.35 which is the same as 5.31, but without the setting which may have been affecting the treble.

5.34 is a 3ms version

uploaded 5.36 which is same as 5.27, but with the enhanced treble setting of 5.31 so comparison should be easier.

that's enough versions, I like 5.31, haven't listened to 5.36 yet, but hopefully there will be a consensus

I'm amazed at the sq of these last few versions, didn't think wasapi would deliver that.

maybe I should do a kickstarter for finishing off mqn. the guy who did it for a meal raised £50 k.

Been abroad for 3 weeks so unable to listen, but followed thread. Spent last few days trying to catch up. Listened closely to a number of milestones.

First I used 5.07 2496 to compare the 3 instruction set versions: sse, avx and avx2. Not surprisingly, sse was not as good as avx, a bit too "loose", but surprisingly avx2 was too "tight", controlled bass yes, but treble too constricted. avx clearly sounds the best on my system.

My last favourite 1644 was 4.04 sse, which I then compared to 4.82 avx, 5.07 avx, 5.14 avx2, 5.20 avx and 5.26 avx2. The winner was a close call between 4.82 and 5.07.

Then I added 5.27 avx2 and 5.30 avx2 to the mix, which all worked for me, and despite these being avx2 versions, 5.27 was better than all its predecessors, and then 5.30 topped that again. What an amazing journey!

Just now saw that 5.31 to 5.36 were released and I just can't keep up. :-) Looking forward to test the latest releases in one of the coming days.

5.35 is the winner. Everything o.k.
Thanks Gordon.

5.27 better for me than 5.36.

usually I don't like the treble enhanced versions, but find 5.31 ok. Maybe my hearing today.

you are not alone.

But this version is well balanced in highest quality.

Finally I listened to the sophisticated music I know, chorus in church.

Very, very difficult for the setup. Often the treble only be music mud.

The 5.35 is able to reproduce with clearest sound, but without distortion. Amazing.

uploaded 2496 5.31 avx2 - 24/96 seems to highlight weaknesses in the sound, maybe due to the greater data volumes ?

maybe my ears are full of wax, I find 5.35 to be lacking in detail compared to 5.31.

5.31 uses an optimise code for speed setting which I've avoided using previously because of the sibilant effect it had. 5.31 has reduced the noise to such an extent that I feel it can be used and it seems to enhance the detail, sustain on piano etc.

Versions might not be directly transferable to hi res

uploaded 2496 5.35 avx2 version, the 5.31 versions do have a discomforting treble sound, but you just ignore that. Anyway 5.35 versions are easier to listen to.
