Yeah Dermot, current favourite is the Blues lp, got it recently on vinyl, cool sleeve. Also rediscovered the BBC sessions recently too.
Have the 3 studio lps but only Electric Ladyland on vinyl-dodgy sleeve and all.

Anyway that Blues album is a goodie on the MOV label which has a fabulous instrumental version of "Born Under A Bad Sign" and one of his best performances of "Hear My Train......" from "Rainbow Bridge". I used to play that song out the back at home when I was a lot younger than you are now ;)))

Anyway you should, at the very least, check out "Hendrix In The West" double on MOV which has five new performances not included on the original single vinyl release..... and there's arguably his finest rendition of the side long "Red House" from the San Diego Sports Arena 1969, which just HAS to be heard! I'll stop right there :)

Oh and what's this thing about this "dodgy" sleeve and all???? ;))))))

My mother's favourite lp:-)

Have Woodstock and a live cd from Washington or Monterey but the sound quality was poor so I basically steered clear of live stuff since....until now. MOV does some good stuff, will have to check out Hendrix in the West so.

The Woodstock should sound fine! Which version have you got? Anyway the live stuff should sound fine as they've always done in my various systems. My rule of thumb was if Jimi sounds crap then there's definitely something not right. Only my opinion though....

The OST above was my very first foray into the Jimi's world.....at the second attempt. The first time I nearly ran out of the shop when the assistant played me a track from the album, namely, "The Star Spangled Banner" strangulation which didn't impress me at all, at all! Luckily I came to my senses :)

Saw them in the '70's supported by Genesis (fox head wearing Peter Gabriel) in the Stadium - boy I'm getting old.
Great gig all round but you couldn't win with that edition of Genesis as a support act.

No lead guitar solos but lovely sounds created by acoustic strings; guitar, mandolin and fiddle intrertwined with bluesy harmonica all tightly held together by solid drumming and heavy electric bass. "Meet Me On The Corner" grabbed me by the throat when I first heard it and I virtually wore out the single [7" 45 RPM for the unitiated] back in the day learning it off and simply enjoying listening to it. I also played a few of their other tunes back in the day. It is always great for me to hear the album again.

Ah that's a beautifully told tale Fergus. You obviously have a soft spot for the album and I know that feeling only too well. "Meet Me On The Corner" played like a short film in my young head and I can understand completely how it "grabbed you by the throat" Hopefully I'll get to own the album one day and I'll remember this......

You actually saw the early Genesis with fox head Peter doing his unique thing......and Steve Hackett with his bookish glasses sitting playing his guitar and........You lucky sod!

Didn't know they played in the Stadium!! If I had have known.....

You're right too you could only feel sorry for the Lindisfarne lads.
