4.96 sse is good. rich.

4.74 sse is better. little thinner.

both versions have tight bass. but 4.96 is tight also tense.
(4.74 is only slightly tense. ok)

Try 4.95, my initial impression is that it is somewhat more relaxed, but still has the same level of bass control of the 4.96.

I find 4.95 more emotionally engaging than 4.96.
Yes, I like the 4.95 better on several accounts.

uploaded 4.98 avx/sse2, shows promise, tried a different compiler for the render loop and seems to make a difference

almost sounds like music

the compiler does a 2 pass compile, so presumably is doing some optimising and the code is also in a different place in the exe, surprised it makes a difference, but I can hear the vocals better now and as I said it sounds like music.

probably more things to discover as there are more options to try/understand with this compiler.

this is a tweaked version of 4.95, probably a bit live and loose for Aleg, but it can be taken back to give more control, I just like the live sound, couldn't really care about the bass control.

have thought about a z87, z97 board.
(asus z87m-plus seems best. only board with dedicated irq for pcie slot as it seems)
but...
took me months to coming up with a "correct" bios... i have no energy to do it again...

does AVX2 make tighter bass, improve micro-level/quality?
i am sickened by the quantity generated from tweaking. quality not enough.
more bass, more detail won't impress me anymore... need quality

yes yes... 4.98 sse is good. (AVX WON'T PLAY)
seems to play pink floyd with ease. has a good stage
delay is good.
flow is good.

this new compile gives different sound texture/vibration.
quite like it. calm. ok engaging. mellow. feels sleepy?!
need more sharpness for guitar. need more weight for rock/drum.

slightly tense. has no other earache issues.

Loss of bass control is for me sign of bad player design.
Control of bass is again one of those aspects that high-end hifi gear aim for.
For me it is a sign of quality.

seems true. most real sound i heard also has tightest bass
...as though hifi equipments have disappeared

softer bass can also make live and real. just that... you know it has coming from a pair of speakers
