Squeeze were dead cool way back when.
Cool for Cats.........
and the missus always did look the same!
East Side Story is for me their best and their first Hits "45's and under" just one stupendous slice of Pop (in its most positive sense) after another.
BBC4 is repeating Top of the Pops week by week over the last few years (same time, Thursdays 7:30) and is now at 1980. Brass in Pocket is #1, Madness hovering close, The Clash there or thereabouts, and the Beat, Bowie's even in there - what a time! We had Up the Junction last year so if memory serves we'll be have "pulling muscles from a shell", and "another nail in my heart" coming up shortly from Squeeze.
well worth taping, there is a bit of disco pap to fast forward through.

Cool for Cats.........
The Sweeney's doing ninety
'Cause they've got the word to go
They get a gang of villains
In a shed up at Heathrow
They're counting out the fivers
When the hand cuffs lock again
In and out of Wandsworth
With the numbers on their names
It's funny how their missus
Always look the bleeding same
And meanwhile at the station
There's a couple of likely lads
Who swear like how's your father
And they're very cool for cats
They're cool for cats - Cool for cats
and the missus always did look the same!
