To be fair one also has to be very mindful of the huge cultural differences that exist on both sides of the Atlantic; it is something that I am very conscious and the do not understand language nuances as we do. I find, as a result, one has to be very careful not only what one says but how one says it. Here, because we essentially speak the same language, it is therefore just that little bit more relaxed.

To be fair, I love CMG, but one must walk carefully. I can be myself here though: a moaning, whingey, whiny grouch, right Fergus?

A very warm welcome!! It's really great to see you over here, I hope you are able to pop in from time to time and join in with this happy little forum. You'll be very pleased to learn that I've been listening to a bit of Berlioz recently, including the Davis performance you have posted above. On ebay, I came across this work for a great price, which I'm looking forward to receiving in the post, any day now:

Good choice on the Berlioz above. I have the version Davis did with the Concergebouw and its pretty good I think.
