I'll trythe Suzuki next. I shouldn't try and listen to new music when I am very, very tired, it's too much like hard work I suppose. I will not give up on Bach, I'd be a fool to do so. His instrumental music is simply wonderful, all of it, I love it.
That, as you know yourself, is a huge mistake and you should not make any decisions at all regarding any music on that basis.
Personally I think that Bach's best music is contained in his vocal works.

This in itself is interesting. Aren't those composers normally considered Romantic? Beethoven is marginal of course, but Berlioz and Schubert??
Simon: what can you expect from a man who remains unmoved after hearing the great Dvorak Requiem?
just try and humour him... ;-)
It never works....that just makes him grumpier!!

TAKE THAT BACK BYRNE, ahem sorry, I lost my composure there. My wife can assure you that I couldn't possibly get any grumpier.
My dear Fergus, you are giving me a bad reputation with all these young people, you know.

This one has been on my List for a very long time but it was worth every long minute of the wait; the music making is glorious! Coin’s playing was simply divine and the stand out track for me was the first movement of the Sonata No. 6 with its soulful theme, ravishingly played, accompanied by the very sympathetic playing on the archlute.
