I listened to Solveig Slettahjell this morning with 2 tracks "Wild Horses & True Colours" and they sounded excellent with no sibilance or etch.
Also listened to Chesky Demo, Sara K If I could sing your blues, very detailed and for me very listenable, slight edge but I could live with it and maybe further power supply improvements could improve this but the performer still feels like they are in the room which is a bit spooky....the right kind of spooky which no doubt I will adapt to!
While there is some little edge on some recordings there is a great coherence and mids and bottom end are very full and controlled.

Feels like the timing between left and right channels has locked in precisely giving an excellent soundstage and with multi instrument tracks they all really hold their own with great 3D depth.
Will be interesting to see if I can live with it for long listening sessions but for me it is a definite keeper with my setup.

Will post my folder to Dropbox when i get home this evening.
Cheers, Pearse.

Yesterday I wanted to have a listen to version 3.97, but couldn't find it in the archive. Aleg said it should be there, so I checked again, but no luck. I left it at that, but now I had the same with version 4.08. It seems the newest version in the archive for me is one of June 4th.

I did notice however that there are exactly 500 items in the folder, so I googled that and lo and behold:

It seems I'm the only one here affected by it, but I wonder, Gordon, if it would be possible to cull some items or maybe better, split the archive into a real "archive" (say anything before 2014) and another folder with more recent "cast-aways"?

Thanks!
I also have this problem accessing files from the drive. 4.08 and others are also not visible for me...

Thanks nige and John Dot for making 3.97 and the rest of the archive available for download at an alternative location. That's really appreciated.

I would like to repeat my appeal to Gordon though, because it seems I'm now not the only one suffering from this Google bug. And it doesn't matter either if I log in or not.

It would be great if you could split the archive into two folders, so at least the newer old versions will become available again.

I'll repeat the Google notification FYI:

Also with 4.09 the avx version will not start on 2012R2
Faulting application name: mqnplay.exe, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x5398c90a
Faulting module name: mqnplay.exe, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x5398c90a
Exception code: 0xc0000005
Fault offset: 0x000000000000139b

The error is caused by the line of code Very near to the location in the code of the previous 4.08 which was at 13bb. So most likely the same program statement is causing the error in 4.09 as it does in 4.08.

Does this help you locate the cause of the error?

Cheers

OK I have uploaded my MQN Folder to Dropbox here:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/kb9fll3rkp1a5g1/MQNLatest.zip

I had MQNLoad starting on enter button and batch file set to hidden.
Alt + Space to select MQNPlay and Control.
Running on Server 2012 Essentials by the way without licence activation yet.

Will be interested to see if someone can validate my findings or tell me to get my hearing checked!!
Cheers, Pearse.

uploaded 4.10 sse3 and avx, different way of prefetching the data to 4.08, think it's more effective, more detail, less harshness.

someone pointed me to some asio wav player code, so might have a go with that.

but for now 4.10 very enjoyable if you like guitars and drums

Pearse

You've got a magical version of avx 4.08!!!

It runs straight away after copying your directory, and starting it from MQNLoad.
Earlier I redownloaded it again from the Google archive, but that wouldn't run either.

A very big THANK YOU.

Cheers
