before a hirez version there are 2 further versions which are the only other possible options for the code. 4.03 and 4.04, so need to settle on 4.01, 4.03 or 4.04. 4.04 is closest to 3.14.

think 4.04 is the one.
4.05 is a further refinement of 4.04

uploaded 4.05 avx, now seems to play on my laptop for some reason

just using 3.61 512, although it will need to be updated later.

It plays on yours, but not on mine...:(

It does run on my Win 8.1, but only after I have set 'Run as Administrator' checkbox on the mqnplay1644.exe and mqnplay.exe
I have not yet tried it on 2012R2, but usually that is less fussy as I run as user "Administrator" on that one.

If I don't give it elevated rights on WIn 8.1 it will crash with an Exception code: 0xc0000005 ("Access Violation")

Give it a try.

4.05 avx crashes on all my computers here, both 2 core and 4 core CPUs,Win 8.1 and WS R2 Aleg´s trick don´t work in Win 8.1 for me.Neither do running in Win 8 compatibility mode. 3.14 avx is not that fussy. So I hope a fix can be provided.
Listening exclusively to treble transients with the sse4 4.01,4.03,4.04 and 4.05 the winner for my old ears and inferior systems is 4.05.This version appears to be closer to Chianti, but I guess someone here prefers a mature Barolo.

Cheers

Jorgen

My trick did stop working suddenly on my office machine running Windows 8.1.
I played 2 albums with 4.05 avx and suddenly starting 4.05 avx gave the dreaded "Access Violation" error again and I have not been able to get it running again (cannot reboot my machine due to work so don't know if that would help).

But as you say 3.14 avx is not that fussy so I've running that one on my Windows 8.1 office machine.

4.05 avx will not run on my 2012R2, where all the avx's have run without issues, except for the infamous 3.39 avx ;-)

Apparently something is a bit different.
