Derek gave me a Donovan CD quite a while back - "Beat Cafe". Its a very good listen, but not in the trippy-hippy mode.

When I saw your posts I thought, hey lets throw it on....

He is largely forgotten now but I still have a regular listen. For me he was quite different, even for his time, and I still enjoy his music very much....I suppose because I have been listening to his music forever! Another one that lives in Ireland I think. I must post more of the albums as I listen to them.

Where do I put these folk/classical/jazz from a Jazz label (ECM)?In case I offend somebody I'll stick them here :-)
Wonderful examples of how to do a soundtrack properly....and they look stunning in their vinyl sleeves especially
the first one which came with a fabulous 12" book of stills plus notes from the films. My pride and joy forever!
BTW I've only ever caught one of Theo's films - The Beekeeper - which I was lucky to catch on tv many
moons ago....I think it starred Marcello Mastroianni and I would imagine giving one of his finest performances....

I bought it as I remember my father owning it a long time ago and I as a young metalhead at the time thought it was pretty decent. It is indeed a superb album. What albums of his would you consider worthy purchases Fergus? The above is the only one I've heard.

Don't worry I'm not getting involved in this one! It's the only JT I own too;it was actually bundled with Sweet Baby James and I remember picking it up second hand in Freebird,when they had an absolutely thriving second hand vinyl section....they're good 'uns too.

I have 13 of his albums Dave and they span a long number of years and therefore many changing styles also. I you liked that one you should also like One Man Dog. His first major success of course was Sweet Baby James which is excellent and two others of note that heralded something of a change of style are Walking Man and Gorilla both of which are also very good. Out of his later stuff I would pick That's Why I'm Here as being another very good one.
