what i noticed with the 4 layers of white plastic was the closer they were to the display the better the focus was
the blue looks better than i hoped

how thin can gerry cnc the front panel for the meter displays?

I think he can go pretty thin. There seems to be a sweet spot where the remainder is thin enough to transmit the light clearly, but that it remains invisible when off. I'd say he has it well worked out from sign work.

The logo and wording looks good. I think keep the writing to a minimum - less is more.

That power up testing was done around 11:00pm, right - my lights dimmed just around that time :)
