Thanks for bringing the thread back on-topic.
I can't really answer (I don't own any high-end kit as you know I'm a paid up frugophile & general skin-flint :) that's why I suggested a face-off with some of these!

Guys the cost of the gear is a red herring to me, I see what your writing but from listening to my pc setup and remembering my VRDS 10 transport with a Proceed (Mark Levinson) and an Audioquest DAC I suggest that there maybe some merit in giving my setup a hearing. So as I now have a few friends here, may I offer anyone interested to come to my home and take a look, all are welcome.

thanks for your call and info i have now foobar and a couple of EAC tracks copied thanks to you. i sure had the wrong soft wear all right. a valve amp is due in tomorrow and i will get down to copying my music again.
i have read all of this thread on your Hiface a couple of times and will be in touch after i get everything re-organised in the mean time i will keep tuned in :-)

You guys might be interested in a Positive Feedback round-up article, just published, on a wide range of USB transports http://www.positive-feedback.com/Issue5 ... erters.htm My modified Hiface is mentioned :) Oh, he also positively refers to his use of the attenuators.
