The hegel h80 amp with a built in dac might be worth going for as the JKDAC32 I was just getting ready for you does not want to play ball this evening, have not used it for over 2 years but it still is charged and is seen by the laptop by both JRiver and JPlay but I cannot get sound from it so not looking too good.

Going to stick the Young DAC on next to see if I can get sounds.
Cheers, Pearse.

So the Young DAC worked OK so stuck the JKDAC32 back in again and no sound.....remembered that switching on and off before was a route needed sometimes if JKDAC not working and voila we have sound.

So JKDAC32 is back on the table but if the Hegel is at a good price it kills 2 birds with one stone!!!
Let me know if you are still interested.

It's a dirty job, but someone got to do it...
-man you just went from a 1K budget to... 3.3K !

Congrats on getting the speakers and winning the bid :)

I'll go againt the flow and advise against the Hegel H80.

1- It's dam expensive. I would go for a Prima Luna valve amp for that kind of money.

2- I don't like stuff that does everything. When it breaks, everything breaks !
The JKDAC32 will be perfect for you.

3- Second hand amps are really easy to find "cheap".
And you can bring your speakers with you, and try the "mariage" with the amp.

Would agree on 1 and I have a Prima Luna Prologue Amp if you want to hear what it would sound like with your speakers.
Agree on 2 as well you are getting that dac for nothing. If you don't take it I would be tempted myself just to drive my headphone amp when required. The problem Pearse had with it is the usual on/off issue that is just resolved by powering on/off. Once connected to your system it just works. Best of luck on whatever route you take.

Well the JKDAC32 found a new home this evening so all that's needed now is amplification!
Good to meet you TipDrinker and I expect you will get some joy as well out of the Photography threads here.
Cheers, Pearse.
