right theres 3 pins on this pcie slot that need to be covered/taped up,
believe it or not theres still noise on my pc apparently as it wasn't enough to power the new clock with a lifepo4 (which did provide the vast majority of the sq lift) but there was extra benefit of powering the usb chip from the lifepo4 too,
and ill take it all thanks very much
What does the line to the right of the XO signify? Think I figured it out it - it is the DATA + line - I guess we can presume the DATA - point?

What do you mean by the noise comment? Did you mean you need to use two batteries - one for the clock and another for the USB chip? Or what?

Thanks.

Can you recommend an oscillator?

I will keep looking for the USB outputs!

I did suggest an xo on page 4

Which USB card did you get?
On this one you have to tap into the d+ and d- after removing the 21 pin header
Which will be likely impossible without hot air or the likes

Well, I started a new OS install and thought I would install the USB card while I could.

The damned installer needs some JAVA junk to install! How ridiculous.

Are there other ways of getting these drivers, even though the drivers I have are listed as RENASAS (doubt I spelled that correctly) in DEVICE MANAGER - is there a difference in these drivers even though they are branded the same (well, the MS name is tacked on to the ones in my system)?

I have a heat gun and learned to use it removing video and audio chips from MBs. In the JULI@ days we removed all of the USB power supply stuff, too. That might still be of use, now that I think about it. Power the mouse and keyboard remotely ... Save some wear and tear on those batteries.

Do you remember needing JAVA for installation?

What is nec?

My standard drivers are listed as Renesas USB 3 something Microsoft at the end. From memory.

Will try manual since I have no choice at this point.

Got some of the small A123s for the p24 12 volts rail, finally. Ready to go with battery power.

Nige2000,

What do you use to get your 5 volts battery pack to 5 volts before connecting to the float charger?

Thanks,
