8gb to be sure, to be sure
I find with 6gb you get away with it most of the time but if you play a selection of hires files together you can get white noise through the speakers i.e. it crashes at some point. It just requires exiting jplaymini and start playing again. Thats 6gb on control pc I am sure the same logic or similar applies to single pc/laptop.

OK, I'll be getting some more RAM, then, innit. Having a bit of a battle with windows 7 making my thumb drive bootable for Windows server, but I think I'm getting there.

You have to be a bit of a nerd to go this far, must be why people like Macs. Apple won't let you be a nerd, just a fashion victim ;)

Just had a thought, can I run windows server on my mac mini ?

Hi Nigel,

Was easy in the end, I just needed bootsect.exe in the same directory as Windows 7 make USB/DVD iso whatsit.

It's a 2006 core duo mini, mind you only 2Gb of Ram, wont take more and it's 32 bit, so it won't work.

Dont think jk has any more ram than 4 gb in his
didnt hear about if any issues with that

my experience was 4 gb was plenty for ultrastream mode in jplay.but with 6gb had a nicer tone to it

If you badly need it Peter extra ram will not be more than 25-35 euro depending on type. Just make sure you have a spare slot or maybe just swap a 2 for 4 if your machine will recognise that. Use a memory configurator to confirm the max ram
