Just might swing it as a package deal - hotel + dinner + Freddie
Any recommendations on hotels/restaurants?
Enjoy Freddy tonight, Fran
I couldn't swing it but was in Dundrum shopping centre today & saw that he is performing in the Mill Theatre on 26th April.
Booked two tickets for this but they are nearly gone so I'm about 6 rows back - row D
Anyone else going on this date?

Well John,

just back from Freddie - it was bloody brilliant. He did a mix of new and old stuff, took audience requests, etc etc. By jaysus can he play guitar. Understated, never flashy, but pure skill. Loved it.

Yes, Fran, Freddie always delivers - his guitar work is a perfect backdrop to that voice & his choice of material is never less than interesting & mosty superb. Looking forward to hearing him again.

JUst back from Freddie's gig in Mill Theatre, Dundrum - didn't see any forum members at it
As Fran said, bloody great gig - excellent guitar work & the new wife Trish has a lovely, pure voice.

Going to try out Marius Neset tonight in Bray to truly melt my head....I struggle with contemporary jazz but love how it challenges my brain in a good way.
Bringing Deirdre to it and she has no idea what I am bringing her too, expecting some weird looks for a while!

I'd like to see that too. But 3 in a row wasn't viable this weekend.
Hope you both enjoy it Pearse.

Phenomenal performance Gerry....sucked me in and spat me out!!
Heard sounds from his Sax I have never heard from Coltrane, Monk or Miles on any album.
Recommend seeing him and the quartet, worth it if even for the energy between himself and the drummer alone, there was something nuclear going on between them on stage!
Cheers, Pearse.

Sounds terrific. Fingers crossed that tonight's gig there is as good.
You might have a look at Edition Records catalogue.
Marius Neset releases there and a lot of nice stuff by other great contemporaries.
Neset went over to ACT for his latest release.
