...tested using foobar2000 1.2.x + XA native ASIO as reference for brightness.
...still prefer 2.36.1. it is between bright and not bright. it makes sound very very sweet. love it.

from v2.31 sound has become transparent, sleek. feel more elegant. but i see CD player sound lesser sleek, JC.
tried improve vibration, very difficult keep soundstage. all day adjust it, think OK.

uploaded v2.37 256 , vibration, mellow, bass have more depth, sound texture correct. only brightness enough or not? try it.

recently, as i mentioned, i discovered i can disable "Adjacent Cache Line Prefetch". after that, i was spoiled!! i found everything bright!!
but if i disable it, i lose air!!
disable it makes bright treble into high density high vibration treble perfect for piano.

evil intel prefetch... anyway...

2.37 best version! slightly bright. maybe i am wrong. try my mod on mqn.exe1.2 or mqn.exe2.2 -> treble definitely not bright- very comfortable on ears. what do you think? mqn tends to have excellent trebles.
also, now i find 2.36.3 bright too. hmm....

soundstage sounds wonderful. not flat. not 3D. organic. focus on music.

i usually compare with CD Player sound, its sound absolute stabilization (or ~), computer's sound not the same, today OK, tomorrow lesser...

2.37 is first version i prefered vibration in correct soundstage (some versions builded with good vibration but soundstage bad, did'nt uploaded). now its sound like my CD Player (have cheap CDplayer). think need more sleek (a bit) and transparent.
2.36.1, 2.36.3 very good vocal emotion for me, sometime feel passion following by vocal. but 2.37 tempo more correct, as i said CDplayer sound does'nt raises intense by delay tempo, all things in norm, can listen longer time, not tired, but emotion??.. think it is normal.

2.37 + XA win7 (no graphic driver installed)
-god like. adds 5% vibration over 2012. rock is better. most real drums ever.
-adds another 5% of musical nuance over 2012.
-less bright than 2012. slightly bright.
-soundstage. different to 2012. pure focus on music. not flat. not 3D. no emphasis on positionings. very enjoyable. very old school.
-piano notes are solid. as real as it gets.
-definitely not tiring. can listen all day.
-compare to my CD player and AM/FM radio player, 2.37, 2.36x is a bit bright. more difficult for me to compare, my CD player is speaker setup in a room. my digital audio is headphone setup.

alright, just brightness is issue. everything is top of the top.

maybe i am confusing brightness with treble tune. like a piano didn't tune for long time. maybe the tune is a slightly soared. not sure. something not quite right with the treble.

maybe try a more positive, more warm (less soar) treble tune.

my CD player is cheap, don't know its brightness is normal or not. think 2.36x a bit sharp/transparency/sleek, but OK, give more elegant sound. 2.37 more "raw", more clarity, not distorted tempo. there's CD player style, maybe as real sound, think CD player sound is right, true reproducing from recording (more true). i need follow by CDplayer, otherwise can not improve bass vibration if tempo not correct.

doesn't matter it is cheap. my radio is cheaper. i think my radio has max details in vocal. sometimes better than my digital setup. of course, my cheap radio has zero bass and treble is dry.

ok... recent versions are too good. more difficult to judge. changed my mind again.

think 2.36.1 is still the most musical. more transparent more energy more emotion. soundstage better. not as raw as 2.37.

i have updated to intel HD graphic 15.33.6.64.3345
using old intel SATA 12.8.2.100

now 2.37's treble sounds much better. digital audio like you say, everyday is different. we better use the same driver, so we hear the same thing.

what is your Intel HD graphic? 4000, 4500,..?
my core i3 3110 use Intel HD graphic 4000, driver date 9/2/2012, ver. 9.17.10.2849
SATA 12.0.0.1082 (1/22/2013).
think i need take care Intel Display Audio driver, coz i use HDMI.
