Great album. TBH willy DeVille is one of those artists who, for me, could do no wrong.

Mazzy Star have opened up about their forthcoming first album in 17 years.

One half of the band David Roback, also revealed that the band have continued to write and record over the years despite taking so long to release a new record.

He told Rolling Stone: "This new album has a lot of different combinations of instruments, acoustic and electric in different combinations we haven't used so much before. It's kind of a subtle thing we're more aware of, but it's interesting for us to perform this music live now. There's a lot of subtlety in the music, and to actually put that across live, when it happens, it's really exciting."

Roback added: "We never stopped writing or recording. We just stopped performing and releasing things."

The band's fourth studio album 'Seasons Of Your Day' will come out on September 24. It was recorded in California and Norway and written by Hope Sandoval and Roback. Click below to listen to the first single from the album, 'California'. The album follows 1990's 'She Hangs Brightly', 1993's 'So Tonight That I Might See' and 1996's 'Among My Swan'.

The new record also follows the 2011 release of the single 'Common Burn'/'Lay Myself Down', and features a guest spot from the late guitarist Bert Jansch, on the track 'Spoon'.

I remember buying this as a new release back in 1989 (jaysus college days!) and being blown away by it. I know the naysayers at the time called it "no mercy" but I played the feck out of it. Still one of my favourite Dylan offerings.



This one I like because it still very much has a feel of The Band to it - they contributed pretty heavily to it. The Robbie Robertson staccato/choking style guitar is all there, along with the "loose" Band feel. "Going Gong Gone" is a great track, but there are a few other gems too. "Hazel", "Something there is about you" and the best known song off the album "forever young".

Really looking forward to this one too Dermot. And she still sounds great after all this time.

Hi Tweber
I felt he was very underrated, so much so, it was difficult to find his music on the shelf.
Just been looking through my recordings and to my shame I don't have any of his any more.
Miracle was always in the car back when I had Cassette.
All of what I had of his was on cassette.
