don't know if 3.75 is what you're looking for, has better treble and bass, just listened to it with rock music and it's quite a powerful sound.

3.73 is basically 3.14, but with a hardware prefetch trigger as is 3.75. 3.75 is a bit more tuned so that is uses instructions to give a certain sound or avoids using instructions that subtract from the sq.

3.76 has fuller mids

3.77 is probably best

JC what xa heap-stack settings were you using ? do you have a link to the xa article ?

doesn't work well with mqn. but then i didn't try different settings.

e.g. in mqnplay.exe, just like any typical exe:
stackreserve=00 00 10 00 00 00 00 00
stackcommit= 00 10 00 00 00 00 00 00
heapreserve=00 00 10 00 00 00 00 00
heapcommit= 00 10 00 00 00 00 00 00

according to pkshan, whatever stack&heap it was, you change it to
stackreserve=00 00 40 00 00 00 00 00
stackcommit= 00 08 00 00 00 00 00 00
heapreserve=00 00 00 01 00 00 00 00
heapcommit= 00 04 00 00 00 00 00 00

in old mqn.exe2.2, or mqn.exe2.82
you have some abnormal stack&heap settings, actually makes music really "slow". love it.

EDIT
I notice this tweak is extremely non-compromising.
more OS jitters = worse is the sound.
less OS jitters = better is the sound.

for typical OS, which is typically compressed/intense/strain, things will only get worse.

Tested the new 16/44.1 versions with

Limehouse Blues - Jazz at the pawnshop.

Only listening to the saxophone for a while.

Someone said: detail retrieval is essential

Someone said: Sure everyone loves detail for a little while, its impressive..... but after some time at least for me I always prefer a richer more textured musical presentation.

Someone said: Just choose the version that suits your system... !

I say: yes, it is like tasting the food.

For my setup: 3.41

But the new versions are excellent to hear finest details.

Of the new batch, I don't really like 3.76, those fuller mids clog up the midrange loosing transparency in that range.

Of the others I do like 3.75 and I'm trying to establish what differences there are compared with 3.77 and 3.78, but can't listen any further until this afternoon.

An interesting set of alternatives again. Thank you

Cheers

quickly tested female vocal from 3.73 to 3.79

3.75, 3.76 won.

the others are slightly lean to very lean. or sometimes more bass than it should.

EDIT
3.75 > 3.76.
3.75 is more shinny, smoother. flow seems liquid. maybe too smooth. shall see

Of the new releases, 3.75 is my favourite as well

3.78 is sounding somewhat thin.
3.79 is better than 3.78
As said earlier 3.76 has lost its transparency in the midrange and sound a bit clogged up.

So we could settle for 3.75 as far as I'm concerned.

i actually quite like 3.76. it sounds like 3.56 with bass + extra weight + quantity. good for rock.

still think 3.56 has superior vocal (because instrument weights are cut by a little.)

cannot have it all! may it is law of physic.
add weight to instrument = add weight to vocal.
perfect vocal = lose weights in instruments.

suspect 3.75 is AVX. only flaw is smooth. but then haskell, amd can handle it.

UPDATE
3.76's piano weight seems 100% correct. flow is perfect. beat mqn2.82.
3.56's piano weight is normalized to 99%. flow is equally as good. better for the ears health.

uploaded 3.80 512, given up on hardware prefetch, too noisy, but learned a few things which have been put into 3.80.

Nope, going the wrong way again.

Very strange sound in 3.80, extremely flat in tonal character and sounding as if recorded inside a dry well or cave.

Strange thing.

3.75 remains the very best of the recent versions.

Hi all,

none of the 3.7x versions is doing it for me. Musicality and flow is lost in detail porn. I do like details or porn for that matter, but it somehow seems to fall apart and gets exhausting to listen to.

3.41 with 1.4 control is better in that regard. Still plenty of details, but more flow of the music.

Back to your regular program.
