Period strings, have to love them.
Where do you find them Don? Otto Ketting is a new one on me.DonKC wrote:
A new name for me, Dutch composer Otto Ketting 1935-2012. A trumpet player, conductor, teacher and composer his music is 20th century modern but not overly dissonant or foreboding. A little like Pettersson (but not gloomy), K.A. Hartmann and Andrej Panufnik are similar in sound and scope. Wrote 6 symphonies, concerti (trumpet of course) a couple operas and some film music. Going to check out what might be on YouTube as well.
Otto Ketting
Symphony # 3
Symphony #4

Jap van Zweden (Sym. # 4), Otto Ketting (Sym. #3) Thierry Fischer (Prentemps)
Etcetera KTC 1373
I have been following this blog, he has a series of "Neglected Symphonies." Some more than others, for example I would not say the Shostakovich 15th is all that neglected, maybe in comparison to the 5th and 10th. If any Shosty Symphony is neglected it is the 6th.Seán wrote:Where do you find them Don? Otto Ketting is a new one on me.DonKC wrote:
