I love the Gaudier performace and I have bought another copy as a stocking filler for Christmas.

Symph No 1/ Academic Festival

I've been waiting to hear this for some while, as it's been sat on the shelf looking at me... I feel I've been remarkably restrained...

^^ this is a lovely set Fergus, and well worth owning... it beautifully compliments my more traditional HvK and Jochum sets, in the same way that Bruggen compliments my HvK & Abbado Beethoven sets, and was just what I was looking for. Beautiful playing throughout... of course with Brahms, there are certain passages (such as No 2, 2nd movement finale) where I would like more punch from a larger orchestra, but that is why I have the other sets... otherwise, those thick Brahmsian textures are thinned out admirably to show more tone colour...

I'm really pleased, overall... THANKS... :-))

You are most welcome, my friend. I really do believe that set should be in every collection!
