The first Saint-Saens Concerto is a much better recording where the cello is a bit too bright and too far off to the right on the Dvorak. The latter also a bit thin sounding. But the performance is quite riveting on both! I suppose that's live entertainment ;)

I agree Fergus, it is a gorgeous piece of music, I have a recording of Schubert's Octet by the Wiener Oktett from 1955, it is lovely music-making.

^^ it's a legendary disk alright... and somehow wondefrfully compliments the Gaudier Ensembles performance on ASV, which (most of us) purchased a couple of months ago...
