Please advise about the DIYINHK converter.

I like the idea of getting rid of any regulator.

That site has so many versions of things I would like to be sure I am looking at the one you are using.
http://www.diyinhk.com/shop/audio-kits/ ... s-pcb.html

probably would be no harm to get two or more of them just in case

the waveio has lots of defenses against noise and jitter for the usual terrible environment

the diyinhk is barebones type that works solely of a 3.3v supply and we can take full direct advantage of lifepo4 cell here

If you want to buy two to get the discount, I'll buy the 2nd one from you.

Randy,

The post office will probably take most of the savings! And both of your countries have Post Offices which are snitches; you might have duty to pay, twice.

Nigel,

Thanks for the reassurance.

I will miss the HIROSE connectors Since the SOEKRIS has the isolators already and with all of the components having their own power supplies I think there should be plenty of isolation. I assume you are using this or are you suggesting it?

Tried using that SILVERSTONE PCI-e USB card to see if that would work; I am starting to think there is nothing wrong with the JCAT card. The player cannot find WAVE IO with SILVERSTONE either. I am wondering if the player is not looking for a PCI-e connected HW? Earlier versions did. Have you had any experience with this?

I guess i am getting acclimated to the different sound since it started sounding pretty good though there is still something missing. Oh, well, as if there is never something missing. The forwardness of the presentation is the biggest hurdle. I like it initially but it starts to wear on me. Hoping the full battery supply will temper that.

I am going to try the PANASONIC 12 volt SLA for the 12v rail today. I think it should be sufficient. From what I remember it mainly supplies the video chips and those are being bypassed so I will wait to go to lots of trouble for 12 v. Unless you know otherwise, which I suspect you do.

Most important: battery power for REGEN. That will be done first.

Expecting big things from that and then to exchange the batteries.

AS ALWAYS thanks, Nigel, for all of the help and most of all for your finding that this scheme for the SOEKRIS works. I have no doubt I am listening to as good a DAC as I, and 99.99% of listeners, will ever have. It is the solution to the SOEKRIS problem. I feel I am hearing what is there. Of course, I have great faith in the player but for all I know this is the source of the forwardness? So many pieces to this puzzle but that is what makes digital fun in an excruciating way, isn't it?

Now to get to work.

Rick
I live in Los Angeles. I don't think we have duties yet lol

Are you using mqn? You might need to setup again. It might need easier to check out with foobar
I had to setup mqn again when I changed usb to i2s cards

Is the pcie slot disabled in BIOS?
That's most likely

Short wire makes a good hirose cable
with all this clean power into everything from the PC into the dac I doubt the isolators are doing anything useful

Randy I thought you were in Canada.

Nigel,

One can only turn the PCIe power on and off with my BIOS unless it is hidden somewhere. I have left power on until I figure this out.

So you are not having this problem?

Just updated the firmware and installed Paul's filters. Everything looked right but the blinking light keeps blinking.

I had to bring the DAC to the office so I could use WINDOWS. Tried for hours to do it with UNUNTU and wasted lots of time.

Getting ready to look at Randy's blog. Was folling the instructions at HIFIARDUINO and hope he left something out.

Take care,

What I did was to use "update" after installing Paul's filters.

What I get for not reading through the instructions, I guess.

Wish that had been in BOLD TYPE somewhere.

Back to the turntable!

Everything looks fine in umanager but the light won't stop blinking.

Thank Providence, it works.

I decided to plug it in just to see. Maybe it needs something plugged into it to reset.

Working just fine.

Removed the output cap.

Sounds much better. Lost the time I planned on using to battery power the REGEN and the computer.

One thing: I have the umanager commands FIRMLY placed in my memory.

Sorry for, yet, another false alarm.

Getting there ...
