I think 3.34 is beautiful, extremely detailed in my setup. I hear details which I never heard before. Thanks!

I'm trying to not to compare too many versions as who knows when Windows will strike down my capability to play MQn. I have loaded 3.34 SSE2 successfully at the 1st attempt. I've compared to 3.27 AVX. I find the balance between them different, SSE2 being a little richer, smoother vocals, slightly fuller bass with hi-hats not quite as prominent. It's hard to say which version I prefer and I'm sure my view would differ according to the system used.

3.35 has the fewest instructions

Hi Madman (Adam?), which edition of 8.1 do you have? Mine is just 8.1 (used to be be Home under W7. It seems Pro and Enterprise have a different and more reliable way to run in elevated mode. My i5 is an Ivy Bridge and only support AVX, not AVX2 and it works...mostly! I just put 3.33 SSE2 on today which didn't work at first. I had to reset EnableLUA in the registry. This was after running 3.27 AVX all day yesterday (including a couple of reboots) without one problem. If I change a file in the mqn directory it leaves me with a non-working mqn. It's some Windows peculiarity with admin files IMO. BTW you should try Aleg's Tasker, it makes a big difference and is not harder to get running and in some ways it's easier.
Clive, yes it's Adam. I have windows 8.1 pro. SSE2 works every time for me but have not heard anything with avx yet, but you say it should work. Not sure what else to do at this point. One thing I've noticed is when the avx version starts the hourglass cursor appears for a split second, then the process proceeds with no sound. Looks like this appears in windows error log:

Hi Madman Adam

This is caused by an Access Violation error.

Follow my instructions here to set the security policy right: viewtopic.php?p=55670#p55670

Then follow my instructions here to set the elevation levels checkboxes for mqncontrol.exe and mqnplay1644.exe: http://tirnahifi.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=55699#p55699

Should work in most situations for Windows 8.1 Pro

Cheers

Aleg

Haven't you red about the avx ritual? :)
Try avx in a new folder and delete the old one, works most of the time.
