I suppose you could call it indie with a twist of the old west, with folk and jazz thrown in (hope that doesn't sound too arsey). The 2 main guys were in Giant Sand at one point, have colaborated with Iron & Wire and Lambchop previously. Most of their albums are worth a listen. "Hot Rail" was where I started, "Feast of Wire" is also good. "Carried to Dust" too. Named after a Californian town apparently, based in Tuscon. Cool Album covers too.
Have seen them a few times and they put on a good show, usually have a few brass players with them so you get the full mariachi treatment too.
Think I saw that they're playing The Olympia next Feb. not sure if it's any sooner but they are woth catchin live.[/quote]

Sums them up nicely OK.
I think Algiers is a great starting point. Future classic IMHO.
Also Toolbox. Brilliant instrumentals ...
