We have the same PC, so it have to work.
None of the avx2 worked, but it should be no problem with avx at all.
I use control 1024.
No still no joy for me on that. Tasker shows 'Error indicated process mqnplay.exe could not be set'

Off to try 3.14 sse2 now they always work

Mqncontrol.exe from the 2.97 zip
Mqnplay1644.exe renamed from "mqnplay1644.exe 24 bit 3.08 avx"
Both checkboxed with "Run as Administrator"

Sometime I have to run anotherone first like an sse and then return to the avx and start twice or so.
But once it has run I can just start it again and again without issue. I can be akward to get it going the first time. I don't understand why, so I persevere until it does. Usually doesn't take more than 2 goes with one trick or another.

Tony
try to start it with the original mqn.bat without the tasker commands.
The error from tasker shows that mqnplay hasn't started or has crashed so it can't change the affinity.
Once you've got it running once it can be started with mqn-aff.bat again.

I agree it is a hassle, but that's how it sometimes goes with me as well.

Cheers

That's only half meant to be funny.

3.14 sse is OK, but listening to an acoustical double bass there is no insight into the bass sound. It is a closed booooom sound that decays, while listening to it with an avx one can hear the string being plucked and hear the vibration of the string die out and have a nice clear decay of bass tones.
One doesn't hear that in the sse.

Maybe you are a genius Aleg after all. Followed instructions and looked liked it was going to work but no sound. Copied the file to the C: folder and hey presto music! BTW avx sounds crap!

You must be joking!
Did you switch off the coffee grinder before starting playback?

Had forgotten to do that. Doesnt sound too bad now!
I am going to give it a bit of time because I am in shock that it actually works. It sounds really detailed but not harsh so far.
The 3.11 sse2 by comparison if memory is working seems warmer with less detail but probably will work better with sibilant and bright recordings.

Next task is to figure out(well pick Pearse's brains on going picoless. Just hope he is not in a smoking or frying humour when we have that conversation)

Now you've shown your true colours!
You want all records to sound nice!!! Also when they've been badly recorded!
Tut, tut, tut.

I think he's had enough fry-thening experiences lately. He might still feel somewhat traumatised

Should the mqnplay1644.exe and mqncontrol.exe (from 2.97) + paste.exe with just clicking the mqn.bat (edited 3rd line) work with avx's?

Hehe Pearse never backs off he just digs in deeper.
Have to eat humble pie even the enamel removing Joy Division sounds excellent on avx. I think Ken said this before or was it Freddie Mercury ' I want it all and I want it now'
Hope I have done this right as I tried a tasker mqnbat file on the root drive and it works as well.

Darkpink try it on the C: Drive I have C:\Users\Administrator\Users\whatever you call the folder
Using the 2.97 zip file control but I reckon the 1024 Adam suggested will work also if I follow the same process. I do believe Nigel told me about putting it on the root drive before!
