To be able to see the new mqnplay versions in MQn, you have to rename them from "mqnplay1644.exe 298 avx" to something like "mqnplay.exe 2.98 1644 avx".
Cheers

Thanks Aleg, got 2.98 avx working in MQNLoad, using Control 1024 at the moment and there does seem to be a nice improvement.
Only WAV at the moment as the conversion process of MQNLoad seems to be all messed up with these new versions as well.
Shame really as I think Taggart had done a great job on MQNLoad but I guess this whole process has been about two steps forward and one step backwards to get these improvements.
Have this weird image in my head of one of those guys with a placard reading "The End is Nigh" but somehow I do not think so!!!
3.08 is 3.06 with the fast code setting which gives more control, but I think sounds less musical
Just compared 3.08 avx to 3.09 avx.
This one is difficult.
3.08 has a slightly warmer tone, more pleasant.
3.09 has a tad more details and a better instrument seperation, but the colour of 3.08 is very pleasant.
3.06 doesn't do it for me. It has a somewhat muffled veiled sound, it has less of brilliance and shine of the 3.08 and 3.09 avx versions.
It would find it difficult to choose between 3.08 and 3.09
What do you think?
Cheers
Aleg
3.08 is better I think.
3.10 has better bass, sse2 and avx, non fast so natural sound.
Good ears Aleg, just tried 3.08 and it does sound great!
My retired reserve DAC suddenly sounds better than I remember my main DAC which is saying something.
Definitely some big improvements recently in MQN, great work Gordon.
Using MQNControl 1024 here Adam and sounds good, have not had time to try any others yet.
Had to go back 7 pages to Sunday last to start catching up, must be a record that.
Seen a new MQNLoad posted last Sunday I missed but it still is behind all the changes here, I expect Christophe must also be wondering when all this frantic activity is going to end so he can get a version that works.

Well if Gordon can use Hells Bells I had a bash at atrocity exhibition by Joy Division by god that can take the enamel off your teeth
never mind flattening the remaining ear hairs but 3.08 gives the detail and renders it listenable at reasonably high levels.
Can we try a 24/96 bit version of that? I know probably futile as Gordon will be on 3.18 before we know it.

Cheers, Pearse.
Thanks Pearse, at list to have a start up since I'm way behind! ;-)
As for the MQnload, I'm still using the old fashion way, separate folder for each version.

Yes, impossible to follow! Particularly as I don't know if the latest changes will last for long or not.
Conversion though, should work correctly with the latest mqnload. Have you noticed that I have changed some folders? Ffmpeg.exe and flac.exe now must be stored in Data subfolder and converted files are now automatically stored in Cache subfolder instead of Temp.

Hopefully 3.11 is the best, sse2 and avx uploaded.
Nice place to bottom out tried out a few tracks on 3.11 sse2 and fluid, full and detailed. Making myself turn it off as the inclination is to keep playing. Well done Gordon always pushing and succeeding.
