This is my last day of leisure before returning to work tomorrow so earlier this morning I got the day off to a great start by revisiting this gorgeous set once again. It really is splendid.

This is a marvellous performance by the VPO. It is hugely enjoyable and for 1966 is very well recorded too.

Is anyone familiar with Maazel's Sibelius symphony cycle with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra? If so, what do you make of it?

Can't help you there Seán; I only have his VPO cycle.

I wonder how the LSO Live performances compare with Davis' older recordings with the LSO on Decca and indeed with the Boston SO?
