I would have posted in here before now, but I have still been enjoying the Beethoven Sonatas very much... no point posting the cover again!

Anyway, Thurs/ Fri, I had the nerve wracking experience of hosting our Managing Director who came and did her 'back to the floor' work experience day, which all went quite well. Now, she's not into Classical Music particularly, but she did mention she quite liked Schubert, so I played her (and my customers) these two delightful little gems:





and if you don't own the Kremer/ Maisenberg disk, then you really ought... ;-)

So, is your promotion in the post then? LOL!!

I know that not everyone is captivated by the sound of the viol. If you are one of those and even if you are one of the converted this is a particularly wonderful disc which should definitely captivate you....



....the music is really beautiful (it even includes a rare piece by Marais for the violin) and the playing is top class and at Naxos prices it is most definitely worth a shot!

^^ she has mentioned in the past that she wants me to move and do bigger things in the organisation Fergus... but I keep refusing... ;-)

anyway, this is the first saturday I've had off in AGES and am enjoying every minute of it... through the Concertos & Sonatas, I intend to spend every minute of it in LvB's company...

These are very, very fine interpretations of these Mahler song cycles. The singing of Siegfried Lorenz is most captivating and never tiring.

The Debussy is a very fine piece with a beautiful slow movement made all the more poignant by the ravishing playing. However, I was really very taken with the Ravel!! This is a gorgeous disc with wonderful chamber music on it!

I enjoyed these versions of the Mozart violin concertos. I thought that they were very well played and were quite polished performances and were full of vitality....which is exactly what Mozart needs especially in these works to give them a bit of a “lift”.
