JS Bach: Orchestral Suites....
Need I ask if you like that? I know that you are fond of Ms. Huggett's music-making.fergus wrote:JS Bach: Orchestral Suites....
Yep!! These are light, graceful and charming performances. All voices are clearly articulated and the tempi are well paced with the music moving forward nicely.Seán wrote:Need I ask if you like that? I know that you are fond of Ms. Huggett's music-making.fergus wrote:JS Bach: Orchestral Suites....
Absolutely!Seán wrote:

Brilliant!
I listen to considerably more of Ravel's chamber music than to his orchestral music so I am not really sure whether or not I have that set Seán; I must check!! I like Martinon so I should have it.Seán wrote:
Maurice Ravel
1. Boléro
2. Shéhérazade: Ouverture de féerie
3. Rapsodie espagnole
4. Menuet antique
5. La Valse
Orchestre de Paris
Jean Martinon conducting.
Ravel's briliiant orchestrations are deliciously portrayed on these CDs by the Parisians led by Martinon, recommended.
I will have to listen to the Harnoncourt RCO London Symphonies again.fergus wrote:Haydn: Symphonies 89 & 99 / Harnoncourt....
This double CD contains fine performances and a good full sound which is a prerequisite for the London Symphonies.
Symphony No. 99 was a particularly fine performance.
