Agreed. The tribute album above has (I think) some interesting covers on though my wife can't stand how "they've ruined those songs". There is an interesting enough dvd which comes with it, interviews with the artists etc. Watched it last night actually.
Nobody, but nobody, can 'do' John Martyn. Your wife obviously has exquisite taste :)

Well, that got a triumphant "I told you so..!" :)
In fairness, most dont attempt to 'do' John Martyn, which I agree is not something to be attempted, but they do reasonable discreet interpretations (some if not all encouraged/approved by JM himself, as well as playing on at least one). NOT trying to convince you though!

As you like Aerial and Hounds of Love, I'd definitely recommend this album highly. The overall sound is similar to Aerial, lush with silky/smokey vocals but this time the piano is the dominant instrument and is complemented by some beautifully restrained playing from Steve Gadd and Danny Thompson and a cracking duet with Elton John.
Like side two of Hounds, this is a concept album, this time with snow and winter as the main theme.
It's a late night or deep winter album but i'm very partial to moody music at almost any time.
From an audio standpoint, there is a high-res version (24/96) available from:

This was digitised from 30 fps 1/2 inch master tape (she prefers to mix in analogue) and is free from dynamic range compression. For details see:

A strong recommendation.
