Haydn: Symphonies 86 & 87 / Harnoncourt....
I found this set of Paris Symphonies to be wonderfully strong performances, well paced and articulate. I think that these will become a highly favoured set of performances of these works for me.

Beethoven: Symphony No. 6 / Hickox....
Not very well known I would think but a very fine version.

Let's see... what was on the music machine today...
Some more of Abbado Chamber Orchestra of Europe Haydn Symphonies # 102 and #103 Wonderful!
A new Naxos CD of music by Taiwanese composer Gordon Chin. His excellent and colorful Cello Concerto and very dramatic Symphony # 3 "Taiwan". The Kansas City Symphony premiered his Double Concerto (which the orchestra comedians dubbed "The Double Chin") and recorded it a few years ago for Naxos. Not well known out side Taiwan and Asia, but a really inventive, colorful composer.
Then for my church's celebration of Feast Day of St. Mary, we are performing the Mozart Missa Brevis in C K220 "Sparrow Mass". So I was listening to Harnoncourt/Concentus Musicus Wien on Spotify.
That is it for now!

I have to confess that I have never heard of Gabriel Reyes. Nothing new there with me either. One for me to investigate further.

This set gets regular airplay in my house. The Melos Ensemble were a superb outfit.

It is a huge set Fergus. I think it's well worth having. I rarely listen to the symphonies of piano concertos otherwise I listen to cds from it quite a lot.
