It is not music that has featured a lot in my listening over the years for some reason. As a result I only have this set in my collection....

Moussorgsky: Boris Godounov / Gergiev [1872 version]....
On first listen I imagine myself preferring the earlier 1869 version; I have no idea why at this stage. I am not familiar enough with the work yet even to make a valued comparison of both versions.

I do not have it but I have read GREAT things about this set. Pepe will be able to confirm if my understanding is correct. Careful though it is our beloved Abbado:

I do have that set Seán; I was a fairly recent purchase and was my first full length version of the opera.
