I have Böhm's cycle. I rarely listen to it though as opera requires huge effort and concentration on my part.

Now this requires NO effort, it is a joy from start to finish:

Franz Schubert
Piano Quintet in A major, D667, "Trout"

Kodály Quartet
Jenõ Jandó - Piano
István Tóth - Double Bass

This is a terrific performance of the Trout.

Joseph Haydn
Symphony No. 93 & 101

Chamber Orchestra of Europe
Claudio Abbado conducting.

These are truly wonderful performances. Abbado and the COE demonstrate everything that is beautiful in these works. What a pity they only recorded 7 instead of the full London cycle.
Had not heard these recordings before. Giving them a spin on Spotify. Very good, quite good actually. Haydn as I like it, symphonic but not overblown or romantic. The "Largo" from 93 is just wonderful!

I have both of those Seán and would second your recommendations.

As a by the way, I would like to have a vinyl version of that Octet by the Guardier but they do not come up very often for some reason. Perhaps they were all played to death!
