control deletes mqnplay.exe and renames the relevant mqnplayxxx.exe

can't get on with these new versions, prefer the old 2.93 4 8
The new 2.92 based versions have a directness and detail (all within a good balanced sound) that I prefer.
The 2.93 4 8 has a kind of 'soft focus' making it sound more sweet and nice, even though the details and spatial character are still there.

Wrt the errors: all the originally named files (mqn1644.exe etc) are also there, I just copied them to other filenames (mqnplay.exe final 1644) to make them visible from within MQnLoad. And still I get these messages.

-------
Solved the error messages, lost my paste.exe somewhere and didn't notice as MQnLoad doesn't use it.

that error message is because it can't find mqnplay1644.exe, nothing to do with paste.exe

would prefer the 2.92 sound, just need to dial it back a bit, tink there is a setting I can try.

Well whatever the reason for the errormessage.
Since I put the paste.exe back I can run the mqn.bat again and no errors appear.

The errors only show when starting via MQnLoad. So the new mqncontrol.exe and mqnload appear to have some incompatibility.

Cheers

uploaded 2.94.zip, think am happy with the sound

uploaded 2.95.zip, there's no point trying to please others if I'm not happy with the sound, so think this is the final version for now. Shall get the rest of the rates and 24 in 32 out over the next week.

The idea is now, to break different formats into different programs rather than to have a universal program for all formats, right?
I am falling behind little bit.
BTW, I had a chance to hear Hugo on Thursday night . We played different music starting with MQn 2.82 (for an hour and a half). Suddenly, it came to my mind that I had 2.84 on a memory stick, as I downloaded it at work just before I left. So, I switched to 2.84, and nothing than wow. I just couldn't believe how much different. I have never experience such a difference between two versions on my V1 dac. After one track, I switched back to 2.82, just to make sure if we were fulled around (friend of mine and the dealer were listening too). It didn't last more than 30 secs, we all agreed that 2.84 was far better. That was the top of the line on Thursday night.
I know that we wanted separate thread for Hugo, but this is MQn related too and I didn't find a reason to open one yet.
All I can say, HUGO IS NOT A JOKE at all, it is much bigger than it looks like, physically. I am completely sold, and it should be soon in my signature.
Friend of mine owes Naim CDS2/XPS recapped a month ago. He agreed that HUGO was up to that level, if not even better as a source.

You're happy then I am happy and I expect that would go for a lot of subscribers here!
It will be nice to just get back to listening to music for a while again :-)

Been without audio for the past week due to fried DAC board, fried USB card, and USB gone bad on Mobo so missed the listening and testing fest all week, look forward to hearing the new MQN soon.
should have all sorted in another week.

Could be an enjoyable summer of music and I will not forget the donation!
Cheers, Pearse.

hmm, the takeaway from that is the player still matters, that's strange, are we any closer to understanding what's happening.

yes, separate files.

Have got the impression 2.95 is again the 4 8 version.
A shame; it is unbalanced and lacking the excitement of the other versions.
