CD Review for Saturday 13th August 2011.
SUK: Asrael (Symphony in C minor, Op. 27) Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, Sir Charles Mackerras (conductor) Supraphon SU 4043-2 (CD)
I was very impressed with this performance.

Czech Music for Strings
HAAS: Study for String orchestra
JANACEK: String Quartet No. 1 'The Kreutzer Sonata' arr. for string orchestra; Suite for string orchestra, JW 6/2
MARTINU: String Sextet, H. 224 arr. for string orchestra, H 224A Janáček Chamber Orchestra Chandos CHAN10678 (CD)
Lovely music, I really like the piece by Pavel Haas.

MARTINU: Symphony nos.1-6
BBC Symphony Orchestra / Jirí Belohlavek (conductor) Onyx ONYX4061 (3 CDs)
This is very impressive music-making, one for the Amazon basket, I feel.
