I missed it, and Tony mentioned it to me.... Quite the improvement!

Yea, how can it keep improving - does the tweaking never end ?
Makes you wonder how close or far from the final ultimate sound we are & if there is much more improvement to be found?

Based on the evidence so far, you'd have to conclude there is much more to come yet. A custom Linux release maybe for install as a dual boot laptop?

Indeed, a real-time, minimal footprint OS with command line interface & dedicated hardware, solely running audio playback from memory resident files, maybe?

There's another big improvement on the way according to Marcin's hints.Don't know what it is yet. I'd agree with your view on TotalCommander , Fran , a bit of a leap in the dark but easy once you get familiar with it and musically well worth it.

It's kind of amazing that improvements are still coming thick and fast in the 'simple' matter of getting bits off a disc. Perfect sound forever, eh?

Yea, there's still a lot to learn about digital audio & the many variables that affect playback. When it was CD playback based we were limited in what variables we could play with. With computer based digital audio we can now more easily investigate the variables & determine what is important. Interesting times indeed in this (little, insignificant, dying), hobby of ours!

here's how I got back to regular windows explorer;
unzip Marcin's 3 files to a USB stick (on another computer)
put the key in and in TotalCommander find the USB key and double click
on Shell and follow the instructions to add Shell to the registry then reboot……bingo

I haven't tried it but launched total commander.It just appears on the laptop as a windows explorer type program. Browse around it start jplay and load your files and play. Thats all I assume you need to do.When finished x out of total commander. Am I missing something with the implementation?
