Gosh Fergus, you are adding some very interesting recordings to your collection. Are you buying them on spec or do they come recommended? I know that the Concerto Koln are a marvellous outfit so so I am referring to previous acquisitions like the Debussy box set for example.

Hi Seán, my purchases are based on a number of factors really. Firstly, I have a long and ageing Wish List which I constantly scour with a view to purchasing. It is the usual story; the list is endless and funds are limited and there is only so much music that one can listen to each day. Secondly, I have spent a long time cataloguing my collection and in the process of doing that I have identified gaps and composers that I would be interested in now that I more or less have what I want of the standard catalogue in my collection. My recommendations threads are as a result of this. Thirdly, a few things come up here from time to time and if they appeal to me I add them to the List. Finally, as one researches these things one then just comes across a composer at random where one simply just takes a chance. Brilliant are becoming very good at reissuing very good recordings of interesting composers and music.
BTW, that Debussy is not a box set Seán, but a single CD and that would be covered in my wanting to explore further the chamber music of late 19th and early 20th century French composers.
