I do not think you will regret it one bit Fran, it is a great piece of hardware on its own with a good screen, buttons, front panel and case for the price.
The board must have updated firmware to take 64Gb cards and it should be a good base for modding as the unit is big with plenty of room inside for different DACs and Power supplies.
Certainly asks the question if Computer based Audio is the way to continue or not!!

Does it have 2 audio clocks? From the previous pics this was one major factor that we spotted.

It is the correct one with 2 clocks, your post got me worried John so i just opened it up to be sure.
They are Shenzhen brand SCTF crystals so I expect these can be improved upon.
Some clean power to the board for the 3.3v should also help.
