The two main works, the Symphony in D minor and the Passacaglia were wonderful, powerful works which were performed very well here.

Fergus, it really is a gorgeous work, the Reiner and CSO performance is very fine indeed however, this is my favourite recording, do you have a copy in your collection:

I never heard of Irgens-Jensen before. I must say the Bournemouth SO are a surprisingly good orchestra.

The Kirill Kondrashin is also my favorite version, but I am BIASED in a big way Seán, I actually heard this great conductor and the Concertgebouw perform this work while on tour in Mexico in 1979. What can I say? the opulence, the drama, the out of this World sounds!!!!

I have just purchased this CD as part of a box set but I already own it. It is a wonderful collection of concertos and cantatas so while I am waiting for the set to arrive I have pulled it down to hear the two Cantatas, Amor, Hai vinto RV683 & Cessate, omai cessate RV684 this morning....

I have long avowed the merits of Vivaldi's Sacred Music and these two performances are wonderful examples of this terrific music. Great performances!
