The weather is not much better up here in the Dublin Bay area Mark but a great idea to import some Mediterrean sunshine to brighten up the day. Great music and music making there!!
Seems everybody in the forum is "enjoying" foul weather. Hail storms here in Mexico City!
My young lad and I cooked our steaks and chicken etc under showers of hailstones on Saturday and torrential rain on Sunday, 'tis a real Irish summer if truth be told.

Many thanks for that Fergus, you are a real gentleman. I have a cd on the Orfeo label with Kubelik conducting the BRSO in Janáček's Sinfonietta and Dvorak's Sixth but that's about it I'm afraid.

The Eighth is lovely and I am currently enjoying the Ninth and so far it is splendid. I cannot help but reflect on the fact that while these great men (and they probably all were men) were creating great art and leaving a glorious legacy for us to enjoy the world was convulsed in major wars, mass terror and slaughter. The best and worst of mankind.

Diepenbrock: CD 1 from this 2 CD set....
This is music that is late Romantic in nature, very melodic and accessible, flows freely and has good structure. There are four very good symphonic works on this CD and the stand out for me is Elektra [a Symphonic Suite].
