Lots of Beethoven violin sonatas lately: complete sets by Ibragimova and Thibergien (I recently heard Thibergien at the NCH in Mozart Concerto for Two Pianos), Faust and Melnikov and most recently Capuçon and Braley here. Also two sonatas with Mullova and Bezuidenhout (on fortepiano). A year ago I had only one CD of Beethoven Violin Sonatas!

I listened to the "Spring" Sonata which was lovely, a gentle performance, not as edgy and showy as some but one you could relax into and enjoy!

I have been making my first run through this set and I am, so far, impressed with both the performances and the recorded sound.

A live recording from St Sulpice with the truely wonderful sounding Grand orgue Cavaille-Coll 1862 played by Daniel Roth and conducted by his son Francois Xavier Roth.

Quartetto Italiano

I got these cds late last week and I have been listening to them every day ever since. This music is entirely new to me, I love it and the performances by the Quartetto Italiano are magnificent.
