Thanks Pearse it works a treat.flac stuff now working fine. So many versions have appeared I couldnt find a version where I had a working taggart files for flac and had given up.

TBH honest 2.6 sounds great to me but trying it against 1000000 and cannot tell them apart. Maybe Gordon can advise if they are completely different beasts?

uploaded an sse2 R2.7 version which has the copy/release/get render order

renamed the 2.6 versions to 3.6 as they have the normal render loop order

yes, they are different beasts.

wouldn't be surprised if the valves are taking some of the detail off, plus any preamp/volume control will affect things. Not sure I could hear the differences so well if I had a preamp.

2.3 2.4 2.5 all work fine for me using 100000 control as advised by Pearse. Not sure why that is?

No need for mqnload on my set up (2012 R2) Will go back and make sure I am pointing at the right folder but fairly sure.

...
In my setup also using the 100000 control recommended by Pearse needs MQNload to start the avx 2.5/3.6 versions. No sound when using direct mqn.bat startup.

Definitely prefer the avx versions over the sse2 versions. The avx are much freeer and better flowing. The sse2 sound clogged up/closed in/limited.
The avx R3.6 is in style comparable to the avx 100000, while the sse2 R3.6/R2.8 etc are very different, more closed in and not free in sound as I said.

Hope for a continuation of the avx line (and an update in 32-bit perhaps?).

Cheers

Aleg, good to hear that works with MQnLoad for you, but if it does it really should do WITHOUT MQnLoad.exe too. MQnLoad doesn't change nothing concerning MQnPlay/MQnControl. It only prepares things for convenience and the latest step it does, is creating a batch file similar to original mqn.bat and starting it. Thereafter MQnLoad.exe is terminated and as so, it should not effect sound output at all.

The batch file created by MQnLoad can be found here:
"C:\Users\<Username>\AppData\Local\MQnLoad\mqnload.cmd"

Maybe try to start it directly and/or compare it to the original Mqn.bat.

does 2.8 not work for you ?

looks like there is a bit of optimisation to do with the latest versions, the code is less than the others, so there must be other factors.

i missed a few between 2.3 and 3.6 avx
and 2.3 and 2.8 sse2

2.3's are better in both cases

Do you get the 2.3 to run so you can listen to music? In my case the crackling is so bad there is hardly any music coming through.

Do you have a preference for either sse2 or avx?
I find them very different in sound signature.
